How to Retain Your Female Workforce

A seminar for women in the legal profession who want specific direction in finding the best expression for their skills and creativity without changing firms or careers.

This is a 2 day program for 10 women attorneys who want to explore how to make
the most of their career without having to sacrifice their job, creativity or personal life.

Women Departing the Legal Profession

A recent New York Times Article flashed some eye-popping statistics about the level of career dissatisfaction within the legal profession. Forty-four percent surveyed by the American Bar Association would not recommend the profession to a young person. While the article cited many contributors short of identifying a salient pattern, it left no doubt about a confluence of dynamics that hits hard at retaining female attorneys.

Creating the Best Fit

We believe that the business culture is the biggest source of frustration for female attorneys, and without even the suggestion of dismantling it; we provide insightful information and methods to enable her to have a full expression of her work talents, while maintaining her sanity and expanding her creativity.

This program will help support women lawyers in negotiating their work environment as well as making decisions about their career direction. With the end game being maximum self-expression, participants will have a new approach to giving voice to their style of decision-making, work process, problem-solving, business relationships and communication. This does not mean working alongside or adapting to an ill fitting business culture, but rather asserting their natural ways and leveraging those advantages.

Cultivate Energy from Unrealized Sources

The core of this approach is to enable women to manage their energy to its highest revenue. Quite simply that means identifying those things that drain it and those things that replenish it. Not only will they get a clear map for their needs as individuals but also understand how to leverage their unique attributes as women in the context of business operations that need fresh approaches but are resistant to integrating them.

A Growing Trend

In the United States, five women launch new businesses every 60 seconds. Our research has shown that many of these women ultimately may not succeed in these enterprises. However, more tellingly, the statistic signals the utter dissatisfaction of women in the workplace today. Some of these women are professionals, doctors and lawyers, who are looking for more creativity and flexibility in their lives. This “search” usually commences after the professional has spent considerable time in her profession. The “launch” of the new business is one attempt at exiting from the structured business world.

However, these female lawyers do not need to leave their firm and strike out on their own in order to design a life that fits. What they need is some direction and guidance on channeling their energy, creativity and female contributions in a positive direction, without giving up their position in the firm.
